The Network Engineer position is responsible for the architecture, planning, implementation, administration, maintenance and support of ESL’s network infrastructure. This includes all internal and external network connectivity between sites, within buildings, wireless and internet connectivity. Network Engineer will evaluate hardware and software vendor products and recommend purchases consistent with ESL’s architectural and Information Security standards and objectives. The Network engineer will provide support, training and mentoring of the Network Administrators. Provides day-today direction of tasks, technical guidance, and work assignment and prioritization to the Network Administrators.
Lead the overall effort in designing, supporting and managing ESL’s Network infrastructure and connectivity between all sites and the Internet.
•Architect network infrastructure in a manner that provides stable solutions that are cost efficient, scalable, secure and adhere to ESL’s architecture and infrastructure standards.
•Plan and execute upgrades and routine maintenance to ensure that high availability and performance standards are met.
•Lead the selection, implementation and support of hardware and software.
•Ensure that hardware and software systems are properly maintained and achieve agreed upon uptimes.
•Serve as a change agent leader by participating in and educating others regarding systems changes and ESL’s Change
Management System and methodologies.
•Collaborates with Information Security on design and configuration of all DMZ networks and firewall environments. Maintains firewall rules, updates and hardware support for all firewalls in the ESL network.
•Ensure all mission critical systems and connectivity employ proper redundancy and/or backup processes and that tested recovery procedures are in place.
•Work with and assist the Manager, Network Services to plan and manage yearly capital and expense budget for Network Services and other business units as needed.
•Provide technical consultation to business units on departmental and corporate projects, and participate in those projects as needed.
Ensure that strong client relationships exist with all internal clients and business stakeholders
•Approach each client interaction with the intent of providing exceptional service.
•Provide a high-level of professionalism and technical expertise when consulting on any projects, issues and/or related customer and stakeholder interactions.
•Ensure third-party vendors adhere to contractual or stated service level agreements and seek remediation where appropriate.
•Coordinate the work of and manage relationships with third-party vendors engaged in servicing or supporting ESL’s CORE systems infrastructure
